On 27 August this year, the newly built school extension at Draudzības krastmala 5, Aizkraukle, was opened at Aizkraukle Regional Secondary School, which was built as part of the European Union (EU) co-financed project “Improving the learning environment of general education institutions in the Aizkraukle region”.

Aizkraukle Regional Secondary School has a new classroom block — 10 new classrooms and other rooms on three floors, a large, beautiful and multifunctional event hall, toilets, changing rooms, a cloakroom and other facilities. The building is also adapted for people with reduced mobility and it has a lift.

The learning environment has also received modern equipment — including in the school buildings at Lāčplēša iela 21. A new local computer network was built, 54 stationary computers, 46 laptops, 28 interactive screens, 20 tablets, classroom and other classroom equipment and furniture were purchased.

Students in the younger grades of Aizkraukle Regional Secondary School will study in beautiful, safe and ergonomic premises that meet all regulatory requirements for the premises of educational institutions.

The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) has invested more than EUR 1.56 million to modernise the learning environment in Aizkraukle.
