Are we able to see a personality, not just mental disorders?

The Ministry of Welfare

In anticipation of the World Mental Health Day on October 10, the "Man, not a diagnosis" campaign organized by the Ministry of Welfare's deinstitutionalization project, which has been running for the third year, is coming to an end.

During the course of the campaign, 4-5 new social services for people with mental disorders started work. Three group houses (apartments) opened in Vidzeme and Latgale this summer alone. New day care centers have also opened their doors. This means that this autumn, people with mental disorders start to integrate into society's life more visibly than before, so our attitude is very important. What do we see first when we meet people with mental disorders?

In order to change the public attitude, this year's campaign appeal is: “The only thing that matters is who we are. See a human, not the diagnosis!" In the social experiment of the "A person, not a diagnosis" campaign, well-known personalities where asked a question that everyone should ask themselves: "How would you feel if, when you were introduced to others, the first thing mentioned was what you don't know or can't do?" We invite you to watch the social experiment video of the campaign:

Kā tu justos, ja, tevi iepazīstinot ar citiem, vispirms nosauktu to, ko tu neproti vai nespēj izdarīt?
