On Friday, October 27, in the presence of Health Minister Hosams Abu Meri, management of Ventspils State City municipal Council, management and specialists of North Kurzeme Regional hospital, as well as guests, the newly built and equipped ambulance department, laboratory and diagnostic offices have been solemnly unveiled.
Work on the new premises will begin by the ambulance department at noon on Monday 30 October 8.00 am, while the lab in the new premises will begin work on 6 November. Patients will be informed of any upcoming changes.
The ambulance department has grown wider and distinguishes between patient flows. (1) If the patient's life is not at risk, such as minor wounds, minor injuries or bruises, a soaked tick will be directed to the trauma point by the registrar. (2) in other cases, the patient's condition will be assessed by a physician's assistant, identifying both the urgency or priority of providing assistance and the specialist's assistance required. (3) children will have a separate flow and a separate viewing office. (4) “Rapid assistance” (“Emergency Medical Service Brigades”) will deliver patients to the hospital through separate, separated entrances.
The corridor that both patients and staff travel through is separate from the ambulance department, plus it's slower for easy movement. An elevator has also been built to move patients in the wheelchair.
In implementing the project, doctors' offices and manipulation rooms have also been constructed and equipped, an observation post and an acute assistance hall has been established.
As part of the project, the hospital laboratory has also been significantly rescheduled and rebuilt, creating state-of-the-art open-type laboratory work rooms and combining them with a duty laboratory and an outpatient laboratory, thus ensuring that all work of the Laboratory is organised in one place. New light rooms for the acceptance of analyses, too.
Diagnostic Unit rooms have also been built - Rentgenographic and CT examinations are now more readily available to visitors. Delivery of inpatient patients to the exams has also become more convenient due to the construction of large waiting rooms and a corridor.
The construction contract was signed on February 8, 2022, construction work was carried out by SIA “construction”, while the commissioning party's representative in the project is the public administration. The project is written by architect Gundars Veksna.
