Greening reform of the Riga and Pieriga public transport system

Under the supervision of the Ministry of Transport (MoT), the greening reform of the public transport system in Riga and Pieriga is being implemented within the framework of the Recovery Fund (RRF), which aims to reduce the negative impact of transport on the environmental quality of the capital and to develop integrated public transport services that meet the needs of the population.

RRF funding in the amount of EUR 295 million will be invested in the modernisation and greening of the public transport system in Riga and Pieriga. The measures and projects to be included in the reform portfolio have been agreed by a working group comprising of MoT, Riga municipality and Riga Planning Region representatives and transport experts.
