With the help of European Union (EU) fund investments, the first phase of the reconstruction of the Jēkabpils Regional Hospital Admission Ward is completed, and the renovated premises were put into operation on 3 September. Currently patients are already being admitted to the renovated Admission Ward premises.
The Admission Ward is relocated to completely renovated, modern and up-to-date premises. New equipment has been purchased to furnish the rooms — beds, sleeping cots, equipment lockers, etc. A new stationary digital x-ray device is set up in the renovated Admission Ward, which will significantly improve diagnostic capabilities.
After the implementation of the 2nd phase of the Admission Ward reconstruction, the ward will be located in much larger premises than before, providing not only 24-hour emergency care (including the availability of a trauma point), but also observation in observation beds and scheduled admission of patients. There will be a distinction between separate patient streams — those admitted by ambulance, those presenting on their own initiative for urgent, acute care or for scheduled hospitalisation.
Margarita Meļņikova, Chairwoman of the Board of Jēkabpils Regional Hospital states: “The infrastructure improvements currently being implemented at the hospital will significantly improve both the working environment for our specialists and the quality of services provided to patients. A modern infrastructure is a platform where both current and new specialists can access the environment necessary for work and development, in order to ensure accessible, high-quality and safe healthcare services for patients, as well as to train future specialists in practices and residency cycles.”
The reconstruction of the Admission Ward is one of the activities of EU-funded project No. 9.3.2.0/17/I/011 “Improvement of inpatient and outpatient healthcare infrastructure at Jēkabpils Regional Hospital, improving access to quality healthcare services”.
Currently, the second phase of the reconstruction of the Admission Ward is underway, with construction works in the premises where the Admission Ward used to be located, as well as in the Outpatient Department or Clinic.
