Ministry of the Interior

In mid-November 2024, representatives of the State Fire and Rescue Service, together with colleagues from the Klaipēda Regional Division of the Fire and Rescue Department under the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania, embarked on a study visit to Hamburg.

During the visit, various institutions involved in flood response were visited. The group familiarized themselves with the work organization of the Hamburg fire department and the technical equipment at their disposal. They also visited the Ministry of the Interior and Sports, the German Federal Agency for Technical Relief, the Dam Protection Training Center, and the Port of Hamburg.

The visit was carried out within the framework of the Interreg VI-A Latvia-Lithuania Programme 2021-2027 project "Improving Cross-Border Cooperation of Fire and Rescue Services in Flood Response in the Zemgale and Klaipėda Regions" (FloodAdapt, LL-00105). The program was very extensive and rich in new experiences.

The visit was an excellent opportunity to strengthen cooperation and gain knowledge that will help to respond to the challenges posed by floods in Latvia even more effectively!
