"The Discovered Latvia" the Daugava Route

Ministry of Culture

The main motif of many works of art is “the lost” – the lost generation, the lost paradise, the lost times – ...we rarely highlight the found and the restored. The Ministry of Culture has taken the opposite path – in our informative campaign this summer and in our final book on the contribution of European Union funds to a total of 66 Latvian cultural and natural heritage sites, we use the opposite term – “The Discovered Latvia”.

By investing EUR 68 million, we have been able to rediscover, restore and preserve the historic assets found in 40 municipalities for future generations – from manor houses and castles, churches, cathedrals and museums, to nature trails, gardens, stages, towers, bridges, promenades, beaches and more

"The Discovered Latvia" the Daugava Route (shortened and with English subtitles)

.The objective of the specific support of the European Regional Development Fund is to preserve, protect and restore important cultural and natural heritage, based on the development programmes of municipalities, by improving existing functions and offering newly created services in cultural and natural heritage sites, thus ensuring the sustainability of investments and the impact on the development of the socio-economic potential of important cultural and natural heritage sites and their integration into the structure of the local economy.
