Under the supervision of the Ministry of Transport (MoT), the greening reform of the public transport system in Riga and Pieriga is being implemented within the framework of the Recovery Fund (RRF), which aims to reduce the negative impact of transport on the environmental quality of the capital and to develop integrated public transport services that meet the needs of the population.

RRF funding in the amount of EUR 295 million will be invested in the modernisation and greening of the public transport system in Riga and Pieriga. As part of the reform, RRF investments are also earmarked for the development of cycling infrastructure in Riga and Pieriga. Five main cycle corridors are planned to be developed, with each path providing a connection between urban and regional cycle paths.
