Vārzas Beach Improvement Works Completed

Central Finance and Contracting Agency

With the support of EU funds, works on the improvement of the infrastructure of Vārzas Beach were completed in September as part of the project “Incorporating the cultural and natural heritage of the Vidzeme coast into the creation and development of a tourism service — “Saviļņojošā Vidzeme” (Thrilling Vidzeme)”.

The improvement project is designed along a 1.5 km long way, stretching along the Baltic Sea coast in three sections from Lauči Rock to Vārzas Beach. The area has been designed to attract as many locals and tourists as possible to relax on the beach.

The beach stretches now offer a variety of recreational opportunities for both active and passive beachgoers. Vārzas Beach has a tourist information point, a lifesaving station with a medical point, as well as toilets and changing cabins in the dune area. Another of the environmental objects created by the project is “The Window”, which serves as a frame for the view of the enchanting landscape. To help you find your way, there are signs showing the way and the distance to the sights.

Another access point to the beach has been created between the public bathing area “Vārzas” and the Lauči boulders. Here, footbridges have been built for easier access to the beach, as well as changing cabins, bicycle racks and multifunctional platforms, which have also been built at Vārzas Beach.
