Website dzivniekupolicija.lv - a chance to help lost animals

Where to look for your pet, if it is missing? Who can you reach out to and report, if you see a stray animal? What can you do, if you see animal cruelty? Where is the nearest animal shelter? What should I do if I want to take home an animal from a shelter? These and many other questions used to take a lot of searching, phoning and asking.

Animal shelters in Latvia are currently overcrowded, but the problem of stray pets remains unsolved. To tackle the situation, the Ulubele team has taken the initiative into its own hands.

The "Ulubele" Animal Boarding Society has created a single website www.dzivniekupolicija.lv. Here everyone can get online legal advice on animal protection issues, post notices about found, lost or trapped animals, report online cruelty to animals, and consult legislation. One can also find information on animal shelters across Latvia and the services they provide. The effort has paid off, as in just one year the classifieds section of this website has become more popular than the classifieds portal ss.lv.

The total cost of the project is 35 292.68 € - of which 32 493.98 € is from the European Social Fund and 2798.70 € is private funding.
