Approved arrangements for the administration of the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund for the years 2021-2027

Ministry of Agriculture

On Tuesday, May 24, the government approved the procedures prepared by the Ministry of Agriculture for administering and monitoring the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF), as well as the administration and monitoring of State aid for the development of fisheries and aquaculture during the programming period 2021-2027, determining the administration and monitoring of EMFAF and state aid for the development of fisheries and aquaculture.

In view of the experience accumulated in previous planning periods in the administration of the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund, also during the programming period 2021-2027, the functions of the managing authority of EMFAF and the audit authority will be performed by the Ministry of Agriculture, while the administration of EMFAF and State budget co-financed, as well as projects financed by the State budget, will be carried out by the Rural Support Service.

As in the past, co-operation with the social partners, preparation and training thereof will be ensured by the National Fisheries Cooperation Network and EMFAF of the Latvian Rural Consultation and Education Centre, but the system of joint and continuous assessment of the impact of State aid for fisheries development will be maintained by the AgroResources and Economic Institute.

These Regulations shall also approve the composition of the Monitoring Committee of the Fisheries Development Action Programme for 2021-2027. This is necessary to ensure that the implementation of the programme is monitored.

The Regulations “Procedures for the Administration and Monitoring of the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund and State Aid for the Development of Fisheries and Aquaculture during the programming period 2021-2027” will enter into force after publication in the official publication “Latvijas Vēstnesis”.
