Congratulations to the State Police on their 106th anniversary!

Ministry of the Interior

Today, December 5, 2024, marks a special occasion - the 106th anniversary of the State Police, nearly as old as our Latvia itself.

Minister of the Interior Rihards Kozlovskis states: "On the 106th anniversary of the State Police, I congratulate every police officer who is currently safeguarding our security, as well as all those who have dedicated their lives to the State Police, rebuilding and developing it. Your professionalism and patriotism are the foundation of the state's internal security and the well-being of the Latvian people! Thank you for your courage and responsibility!".

Chief of the State Police, General Armands Ruks says: "This spring, we conducted the research centre SKDS survey on trust in the State Police and achieved an all-time high rating - 70% of Latvian residents trust the State Police! The National Electronic Mass Media Council has recently conducted a comprehensive study that also includes public trust. As the State Police, we are in the honorable second place after the National Armed Forces! Latvian residents, Latvian society trusts us. In my view, this is a very good achievement. Trust is very difficult to earn but can be lost very quickly, so we must continue to be honest, fair and professional in our daily duties. And that is exactly what you are! Therefore, I offer you a huge thank you for your work, and I also thank your loved ones who support you daily".

The daily work of the State Police is vitally important for us to feel safe in our homes and in our Latvia.

Thanks to significant financial support from the European Union, the State Police is able to more effectively combat crimes such as organized crime, cybercrime, human trafficking, and drug smuggling.

The State Police, through its daily diligent work, ensures security in Latvia and strengthens our country's position in Europe.
