Construction and equipment works for the technological infrastructure of the Latvian-Belarusian land border have begun at the Kaplava Border Guard Post of the Daugavpils Border Guard Management of the State Border Guard

As of September 23, 2024, construction and equipment works for the technological infrastructure of the Latvian-Belarusian land border have commenced at the Kaplava Border Guard Post of the Daugavpils Border Guard Management of the State Border Guard.

These works are part of the "Automated Border Surveillance Infrastructure" project, aimed at strengthening border guard capabilities by installing modern video surveillance and data transmission systems. These systems will ensure effective border monitoring and response to hybrid threats, cross-border crime, and illegal migration.

The construction of the border's technological infrastructure will be carried out by SIA "WOLTEC" and is scheduled to be completed by the third quarter of 2026.

The total financial investment in the first phase is 33,170,325.21 EUR.

The project is being implemented by the State Border Guard in cooperation with the Latvian State Radio and Television Center and the State Provision Agency within the framework of the the Border Management and Visa Instrument, the managing authority of which in Latvia being the Ministry of the Interior.
