Technology implementation in Latvia's border surveillance

Ministry of the Interior

On January 31, 2025, at the Pāternieki border control point in Latvia's eastern border region, the Latvian State Radio and Television Center presented two extensive technological solutions currently being developed for the needs of the State Border Guard and other institutions involved in border protection and border crossing to representatives of Latgale region municipalities and media.

The Latvian State Radio and Television Center has been entrusted with the development of a technological solution for the construction of automated border surveillance infrastructure, as well as the creation of the necessary infrastructure for the e-service of the electronic pre-registration and queue progress system for crossing the external border of the Republic of Latvia, and the electronic management solution for the border crossing point control process, outlining the progress and scope of the projects.

The event participants also visited the Latvian-Belarusian border in Kaplava, where border improvement has already been completed and technological infrastructure construction is underway.

The project is being implemented thanks to EU funding support.
