On March 28, 2025, the closing event of the project No. VRS/RPVP/2023/4 “Procurement of Accommodation and Maintenance Resources for the Needs of the State Border Guard” took place at the Aviation and Special Operations Administration of the State Border Guard, bringing together the implementers and cooperation partners of the project. Participants had the opportunity to view the activities carried out within the project and their results, as well as to share their impressions and wishes. The event provided a platform not only to summarize achievements but also to share experiences, build long-term collaborations, and ensure a foundation for the sustainability of the project's results.
As a result of the project's activities, the State Border Guard acquired an impressive range of special equipment and devices – portable anti-drone systems, drone detection and identification systems, high-power loudspeaker devices, tents suitable for winter and summer conditions with equipment (portable generators, folding beds, tent heaters), containers for storing logistical resources, office containers, and a GSM device locator for aircraft – for more than EUR 2.7 million.
The equipment purchased within the project, as well as the State Border Guard personnel trained in its use, will provide the State Border Guard with the opportunity for the sustainable development of its control and response capabilities – for the rapid and immediate prevention of existing and potential security threats and provocations, including ensuring control of irregular migration at the external border of the European Union. It also significantly strengthens the State Border Guard's ability to organize response measures appropriate to the current geopolitical situation and a progressive approach to integrated border management in accordance with the requirements of the European Union.
The project was implemented within the framework of the Financial Support Instrument for Border Management and Visa Policy for the period 2021-2027, the managing authority of which in Latvia is the Ministry of the Interior.
The total cost of the project is EUR 2,850,814 (fund financing – EUR 2,138,110, state budget financing – EUR 712,704).
