The Minister of the Interior discussed inter-agency cooperation in the fight against the hybrid aggression of the Lukashenko regime with the chiefs of the State Border Guard and the State Police

Ministry of the Interior

On September 13, 2024, the Minister of the Interior, Rihards Kozlovskis, along with the Chief of the State Border Guard, General Guntis Pujāts, and the Chief of the State Police, General Armands Ruks, visited the Gulf Division of the Ventspils Border Guard Department and the Riga Division of the Riga Border Guard Department.

During the visit, the Minister of the Interior familiarized himself with the organization of the service in the Gulf Division and the Riga Division’s area of responsibility (on the left bank of the Daugava River), as well as with the organization and specifics of maritime border surveillance by the State Border Guard. In addition, the Minister of the Interior discussed inter-agency cooperation in the fight against the hybrid aggression of the Lukashenko regime, as well as the current situation on the Latvian and European Union external border with the chiefs of the State Border Guard and State Police.

The support of the European Union in strengthening the capabilities of the State Border Guard is invaluable. European Union co-financing is a concrete example of solidarity and cooperation, which is essential to ensure our common security. Thanks to this support, the State Border Guard is able to more effectively fulfill its duties, strengthening the security of Latvia and the entire European Union.
