To strengthen cybersecurity in Latvia, 5 million euros have been allocated from EU funds in 2025

Ministry of the Interior

Latvia has secured €5 million in European Union funding for 2025 to bolster its cybersecurity capabilities.

This investment will be directed towards modernizing telecommunications equipment and computer hardware, as well as acquiring and developing new technologies. The goal is to enhance the management of information and communication technologies.

Cybersecurity investments are not merely economic considerations; they are a matter of national security. A robust cybersecurity posture provides:

  • protection against cyberattacks that can cripple critical infrastructure, steal sensitive data, and cause significant financial losses;

  • data security for citizens and businesses, fostering trust in digital services and promoting innovation;

  • enhanced national prestige and competitiveness on the global stage, where cybersecurity has become a paramount factor.

As part of the 2025 state budget, the Ministry of the Interior has been allocated €167.5 million for implementing EU policy instruments and foreign aid projects to promote Latvia's development and international cooperation.
