From November 25th to 27th, 2024, a training course for 22 Moldovan Border Police officers was organized at the Moldovan Border Police Border Security Excellence Center in Ungheni. During the training, Moldovan colleagues had the opportunity to enhance their theoretical knowledge and practical skills in dealing with detained offenders, paying special attention to personal and colleagues safety, the use of special equipment, as well as the methods and tactics of escorting detained persons.

Upon completion of the training course, all participants successfully passed the final exam and received corresponding certificates.

Sergiu Lazari, Head of the Human Resources Management Department of the General Inspectorate of the Border Police of Moldova, highly appreciated the content of the advanced training program and the effective methodology of presenting the training material, which contributes to achieving sustainable results.

The purpose of the liaison officers' activities is to strengthen the control of the European Union's external borders and to develop effective management of migration flows in accordance with the Schengen acquis requirements. State Border Guard liaison officers promote cross-border cooperation and the expansion of professional contacts between law enforcement agencies of European Union member states and third countries and other partners, thereby reducing illegal cross-border activities and combating illegal immigration to European Union member states.

This training was organized and provided within the framework of the Financial Instrument for Border Management and Visa Policy 2021-2027, project No. VRS/RPVP/2023/9 "Continuation of the activities of the State Border Guard liaison officer points in Georgia, Ukraine, Moldova, and Azerbaijan".

The project contributes to the implementation of the EU Security Strategy and protects fundamental rights and European values.
