Ministry of the Interior

The Information Center of the Ministry of the Interior, in close cooperation with the State Border Guard, has launched an ambitious project titled "Development and Implementation of the State Border Guard's Electronic Information System" (hereinafter referred to as the Project), aimed at modernizing the management of Latvia's external borders. This project, co-funded by the European Union, is a significant step towards more effectively detecting cross-border crime and facilitating border crossings.

Within the framework of the project, an electronic information system for the State Border Guard will be developed, and the national part of the Entry/Exit System will be implemented. This will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of border control at Latvia's external border by accelerating and enhancing border control processes and procedures, and assisting in the fight against crime.

The project is scheduled for completion by March 31, 2025.

The total project budget is 2,145,642 euros, of which 1,609,231 euros is provided by the European Union, and 536,411 euros is from the state budget.

The project is co-financed by the European Union under the Financial Instrument for Borders and Visa Policy for the 2021-2027 planning period, with the Ministry of the Interior serving as the managing authority in Latvia.
