Outpatient healthcare providers throughout Latvia will be able to claim funding from European Union funds for infrastructure development projects in the amount of EUR 8.5 million.
Today, 20 June, the Government adopted the modalities * for the implementation of investment projects under the EU Recovery and resilience Facility Plan. The projects will be implemented in polyclinics, health centers, outpatient parts of hospitals that provide state-paid health services in at least 10 programs. In total, 48 medical treatment institutions throughout Latvia will be eligible for funding, investing in ensuring accessibility of the fund and its own funds, improvement of integrated service infrastructure, improvement of epidemiological safety requirements, improvement of ventilation systems, etc. By implementing investments to strengthen the infrastructure of medical treatment institutions, access to outpatient health care services will be improved for residents throughout Latvia, thereby relieving inpatient facilities. Patients will be provided with better quality services and a more accessible environment.
Since the total number of secondary outpatient service providers in Latvia is large, a narrower range of beneficiaries was identified in order to make effective use of the available support from EU funds, i.e. medical treatment institutions with at least 10 programmes and more paid outpatient programmes were included among potential beneficiaries of funding. This will allow the development of institutions that provide a wide range of services together, including in regions. The total amount of investment is EUR 10 285 000, including the European Recovery and resilience Facility funding of EUR 8 500 000 and national funding of at least EUR 1 785 000. The deadline for the implementation of the projects is August 2026.
The European Recovery and resilience Facility is an EU budget programme launched to support reforms and investment to ensure the transition of EU Member States to the green and digital economies.
