Active work on the EU-funded project

Active work on the EU-funded project "Automated Border Surveillance Infrastructure" continues

Ministry of the Interior

Continuing the work on project No. VRS/RPVP/2023/3 "Automated Border Surveillance Infrastructure," on September 6, 2024, a service agreement was signed with "JP BŪVINŽENIERU BIROJS" (No.IeMNVA2024_193-Pak) for the technical inspection/technical study of surveillance and communication towers and the preparation of an inspection report. The work must be completed by December 3, 2024.

Within the framework of this project, the State Provision Agency will renovate at least 37 existing surveillance and communication towers along the entire external border to ensure their uninterrupted operation, which is essential for the continuous operation of border surveillance monitoring and communication systems. This will facilitate the creation of technical systems along the entire Latvian-Belarusian state border, improving not only the border guard's capacity but also the ability to respond to potential threats to the state border, and will serve as an important preventive measure.

The project is implemented by the State Border Guard in cooperation with VAS Latvian State Radio and Television Centre and the State Provision Agency within the framework of the Financial Instrument for Borders and Visa Policy, for which the Ministry of the Interior is the managing authority in Latvia.
