Addition to ESF operational programme
"Human Resources and Employment" has been approved
On April 1, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the addition to the European Union (EU) operational programme "Human Resources and Employment" developed under the guidance of the Ministry of Finance, stating support from the European Social Fund (ESF) for activities in the field of labour force and human resources development.
Addition to the operational programme is a national planning document subordinated to the National Strategic Reference Framework and operational programme "Human Resources and Employment".
The addition covers the fields included in the operational programme "Human Resources and Employment"- science and research, education, employment, social integration, labour force quality, as well as improvement of public administration capacity, setting conditions for implementation of activities stated in the operational programme. The addition to the programme was developed in cooperation with the line ministries involved in the EU fund administration and consulting with social partners, regional representatives and non-governmental organizations.
CoM also assigned Ministry of Economics, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Education and Science, Ministry of Welfare, Ministry of Regional Development and Local Government, State Chancellery, and Ministry of Health responsible institutions for implementation of the addition to the operational programme.
As it was announced before that on September 20, the European Commission approved 4.53 billion euro worth Latvia’s Strategy 2007-2013 for acquisition of EU funds – National Strategic Reference Framework, and on December 18, the Commission approved the operational programme "Human Resources and Employment" within the framework of which 550.7 billion euro will be available to Latvia.
