Ministry of the Interior

The State Border Guard has launched a new project aimed at improving the professional qualifications of officials involved in the field of migration, return, and asylum. Within the framework of the project, 171 State Border Guard officials will receive training and professional development to improve their skills and knowledge in these areas, thereby strengthening national security and efficiency in migration processes.

During the implementation of the 19-month EU co-funded project, border guards will acquire and improve their skills and competencies in intercultural communication, work with minors, as well as learn Spanish and improve their English language skills.

As a result of the project, the State Border Guard will gain a significant intangible benefit - the improvement of theoretical knowledge and practical skills of the personnel, which will overall strengthen the institution's capacity in the field of migration flow management and contribute to the country's internal and external security.

The project is being implemented within the framework of the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund 2021-2027 planning period, for which the managing authority in Latvia is the Ministry of the Interior.
