Announce Registration for the Online Erudition Game "The Great EuroQuiz"

The Ministry of Welfare

For the fifth consecutive year, the Ministry of Welfare is organizing the online erudition game "The Great EuroQuiz". The game offers students in grades 10-11 an exciting, entertaining, and cohesive environment to test and enhance their knowledge of the European Union, its values and diversity, the welfare sector, and EU investments therein.

Last year, 69 school students from 100 classes participated in the competition for the title of the most erudite class. The knowledge level of all participants pleasantly surprised us. Riga State Gymnasium 1, class 10.C, was recognized as the most erudite class in Riga and throughout Latvia. In Vidzeme, it was class 11.C of Ogre State Gymnasium; in Latgale, class 11.B of Daugavpils Technology Secondary School - High School; in Selonia, class 10.A of Ilūkste Rainis Secondary School; in Kurzeme, class 11.A of Tukums 2nd Secondary School; in Zemgale, class 10.A of Jelgava Technology Secondary School.

Participants of "The Great EuroQuiz" will be grouped and evaluated according to their geographical location into six groups: Vidzeme, Kurzeme, Zemgale, Latgale, Selonia, and the territory of Riga city. The six best classes in Latvia will receive a gift card worth 500 euros to cover the expenses of a class bonding event of their choice. The class with the best result in Latvia will receive an additional 500 euros.

The online game "The Great EuroQuiz" is an attractive way to engage the attention of young people in a cohesive atmosphere, broaden their horizons, and strengthen existing knowledge. At the same time, it serves as an excellent tool for teachers to diversify the teaching material and process, maintaining students' interest in acquiring new knowledge.

The class teacher represents the team, applies for participation, organizes participation in the quiz, and communicates with its organizer. All pupils of one team, by agreeing on one correct answer to each question, play the quiz together. The game consists of 40 questions and is designed to be played during a lesson.

To participate in the quiz, the teacher must register their class between April 16th and April 30th, and on May 1st, they will receive access information for the quiz. Registration and the competition regulations are available at: https://eiroviktorina.lv/. Schools that have registered for participation will be able to play the quiz remotely at any convenient time online from May 7th to May 20th. Results will be announced on May 21st.
