From August 27 to 31, 2024, six more officials from the General Inspectorate of the Border Police of the Republic of Moldova visited the Ventspils Border Guard Department of the State Border Guard. The visit took place within the framework of the activity plan of the project "Strengthening the capacity of the General Inspectorate of the Border Police of the Republic of Moldova in the field of 'green' and 'blue' border control (LatMoldova)" co-financed by the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) and implemented by the State Border Guard, the General Inspectorate of the Border Police of the Republic of Moldova, and the State Border Guard College, with the aim of conducting the second training for a group of Moldovan Border Police personnel in the operation of patrol boats, which are intended to be donated to the General Inspectorate of the Border Police of the Republic of Moldova.
As a result of the implementation of project activities, the theoretical knowledge and practical skills acquired by the participants of the two training groups - 12 representatives of the Moldovan Border Police - will significantly increase the capacity of the Moldovan Border Police personnel to operate patrol boats and engage in border surveillance tasks after their transfer to the General Inspectorate of the Border Police of the Republic of Moldova.
The project will contribute to the implementation of the EU Security Strategy and protect fundamental rights and European values.
This project is co-funded by the European Union under an agreement with the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) through the Migration Partnership Facility.
