Extends participation time in EU Monitoring Mission in Armenia for State Police official

On 26 March 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers issued an order to extend the period of participation for a year to a State Police official with a special service rank in the European Union (EU) Monitoring Mission in Armenia.

On the basis of a letter of 12 October 2023 from the Civilian Operations Commander of the European External Action Service, the time of participation of a State Police official with special rank R.Koptenkov in the EU Monitoring Mission in Armenia has been extended until 27 March 2025.

Latvia continues to support international efforts to strengthen security and promote stability by participating in UN, EU, OSCE and NATO missions and operations. Up to 30 civilian experts are sent to participate in international missions each year.

Currently, 17 civilian experts of Latvia participate in the EU civilian international missions, including the EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia – 12, the EU Advisory Mission in Ukraine – 4, and the EU Mission in Armenia – 1.

The EU Mission to Armenia launched a new phase for EU involvement in the South Caucasus. The task of the mission is to monitor and report about the situation on the ground, as well as to promote the safety of people in conflict-affected areas, helping build trust between the people of Armenia and Azerbaijan and, where possible, state institutions.
