Implementation of the project "Automated border surveillance infrastructure" continues.

During the second quarter (April 1 - June 30, 2024) of the project's implementation, the State Border Guard (VRS), together with its project partners, JSC "Latvian State Radio and Television Center" (LVRTC) and the State Provision Agency (NVA), continued work on the design and construction of the technological infrastructure of the external land border between the Republic of Latvia and the Republic of Belarus.

Order contracts were concluded between LVRTC and SIA "WOLTEC" for the design of the technological infrastructure, as well as order contracts for three state border sections with a total length of approximately 113 km.

Active work was carried out on the coordination and preparation of the developed construction projects, and general agreements were concluded with three companies for the provision of construction supervision and construction support services.

The results of the price survey were approved by the LVRTC board, and a price survey for the 1st stage construction supervision and construction support services is currently underway.

The procurement procedure for the technical inspection of "Observation and Communication Towers" was closed without result, and a repeated procurement procedure has been announced at this time.

In order to get acquainted with and gain experience in the creation of border surveillance and border infrastructure in neighboring countries, exchange of experience trips were organized to Lithuania, Poland, and Ukraine.

To inform the public about the importance of the project, its planned goals, activities, and achievable results, a project publicity event was held on May 13-14, 2024.

The project is being implemented by the State Border Guard in cooperation with JSC Latvian State Radio and Television Center and the State Provision Agency within the framework of the Financial Instrument for Border Management and Visa Policy, for which the managing authority in Latvia is the Ministry of of the Interior.
