Launches round 2 project to extend existing ABC gateway system at the Riga airport

Round 2 of the project to extend existing ABC gateway system at the Riga airport is launched.

The project will lead to an improvement in the usability of ABC gates in the departing sector of Riga airport, where similar to the arrival terminal of Riga airport, ABC gates will be located closer to passenger traffic. ABC gates will be more convenient to use for holders of biometric passports from the European Union, the European Economic area and the Swiss state.

Through the project, the State border Guard will strengthen its capacity to organize flexible response measures and a progressive approach to integrated border management, in accordance with the requirements of the European Union, ensure preventive measures and monitoring, control of illegal migration.

The project will contribute to the implementation of the European Security Strategy and safeguard fundamental rights and European values.

The project is implemented by the State Border Guard within the framework of the Border Management and Visa Policy Instrument, the managing authority of which in Latvia is the Ministry of the Interior.
