LIDA cancelled contracts on implementation of structural funds projects

Latvian Investment and Development Agency (LIDA) have cancelled two contracts on implementation of the European Union (EU) structural funds projects. Project were implemented within the framework of the 2nd Operational Programme “Entrepreneurship and Innovations” Complement Priority 2.3 “Promotion of entrepreneurship” Measure 2.3.2 “Business Infrastructure and Improvements to Equipment” Sub-activity “Co-financing to the investments in micro, small and medium-sized enterprises operating in the specially assisted areas”.

Contracts have been cancelled because the LIDA recalled decisions on project adoption: SIA “Baltic Solo” having submitted project application for procurement of professional sound and music equipment in Indra Parish claiming for maximum support in amount of 70 000.00 Ls and SIA “GTC” claiming for the EU structural funding in amount of 60 921.01 Ls purchasing diode monitor with the management system in Šķeltova Parish.

The above mentioned decisions have been recalled due to submission of false information to the LIDA.

In project applications companies mentioned that at the moment the application was submitted they corresponded to small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) status. Having checked this information in the State Revenue Service and State Social Insurance Agency the LIDA concluded that none of enterprises at the moment of application submission corresponded to the SME status.

Therefore the LIDA recalled decisions made previously on the project approval because final beneficiaries did not comply with one of requirements of the activity – SME status. From this conclusion another breach resulted – project applicant submitted to the LIDA false information on the basis of which the decision was made.

Enterprises are entitles to dispute these decisions in the Ministry of Economics.
