N.Broks: local government will need to cover significant part of cost increase in the EU fund projects

On February 19, the government took a decision to cover cost increase amounting to 16.69 million lats in another 5 EU fund projects - "Development of water handling facilities in Ventspils, II stage" and "Development of water handling facilities in Daugavpils, II stage", "Development of water handling facilities in Olaine and Jaunolaine", "Increase in energy efficiency of Ventspils City educational establishments" and "Establishment of Ķegums City central heat supply system with the help of new boiler house construction".    

"Beneficiaries of  the financing decided to cover part of the cost increase in amount of 5.98 million lats themselves, the other part will be covered from the state budget resources, thus it is planned that all the European Regional Development Fund and Cohesion Fund projects will be finished, regarding which there were justified concerns", underlined the Minister for Special Assignments for Administration of European Union Funds Normunds Broks (TB/LNNK).

Also, the government decided not to cover from the state budget resource further cost increases in the EU fund projects of planning periods 2004-2006 and 2007-2013.

It was already announced that on February 12, this year, the Cabinet of Ministers approved coverage of cost increase in 20 European Regional Development Fund and Cohesion Fund projects in the field of water handling facilities arrangement, waste management and modernisation of heat supply systems amounting in total to 25.56 million lats, from which 11.07 million lats will be covered by the beneficiaries themselves.

European Regional Development Fund projects where the cost increase will be covered:

  • "Establishment and introduction of separate waste collection and composting system in Valka";

  • "Establishment of biodegradable waste collection points and procurement of necessary equipment in Limbaži";

  • "Increase in energy efficiency of Madona educational and cultural institution buildings";

  • "Modernisation of Lauciene heating network and increase in energy efficiency";

  • "Elimination of central heating points and reconstructions of distribution heating network in Daugavpils";

  • "Improvement of Jūrmala heating system energy efficiency changing from 4 tube heat supply to 2 tube heat supply";

  • "Reconstruction of Dzērbene boiler house, external heating networks and Dzērbene Secondary School internal heating system";

  • "Reconstruction of Valmiera City centralized heat supply system heating networks";

  • "Increase in efficiency of Mālpils heat supply system";

  • "Reconstruction of Mālpils parish central heating networks and modernisation of boiler house";

  • "Increase in energy efficiency of health and social care centre "Malta"";

  • "Inclusion of Bauska castle in cultural tourism routs";

  • "Revitalization of Cēsis Medieval castle complex for the development of tourism";

  • "Renewal of Old Venta Bridge and establishment of an attractive tourism territory in the heart of Kuldīga";

  • "First stage of Krāslava central heat supply system reconstruction – reconstruction of co-generation station at Latgales Street 14";

  • "Reconstruction of Kuldīga City heating system creating environmentally friendly heat source"; 

  • "Increase in energy efficiency of Venstpils City educational establishments";

  • "Establishment of Ķegums City central heat supply system with the help of new boiler house construction".

  • "Development of water handling facilities in Riga, III stage";

  • "Development of water handling facilities in East Latvia river basins";

  • "Household waste management in Coastal Region, Latvia";

  • "Household waste management in Maliena Region";

  • "Development of water handling facilities in Ventspils, II stage";

  • "Development of water handling facilities in Daugavpils, II stage";

  • "Development of water handling facilities in Olaine and Jaunolaine".
