N.Broks shared experience with colleagues from the Czech Republic of EU fund acquisition in Latvia

On March 7, Minister for Special Assignments for Administration of EU Funds Normunds Broks (TB/LNNK) met with representatives from the Czech Republic Parliament Committee on EU Affairs to share experience and discuss topical issues related to EU funds acquisition.    

The Minister explained to Czech colleagues the EU fund administration system of Latvia, told about new programming period 2007-2013 launching activities, discussed achievements and topical issues related to EU funds acquisition in Latvia. At the same time, representatives from the Czech Republic introduced the Minister with their experience of the EU funds acquisition and ways of dealing with topical issues. Broks also underlined Latvia’s experience of dealing with EU funds cost increase problem.   

Representatives from the Czech Republic Parliament appreciated the work done by the Minister N.Broks related to EU funds administration in Latvia and solutions proposed to deal with EU funds related issues, as well as agreed on future cooperation in the „new” EU funds acquisition period.

Minister for Special Assignments for Administration of EU Funds by coordinating the work of EU funds administrating departments in the Ministry of Finance and other institutions involved in the administration of structural funds and Cohesion Fund, supervises acquisition of EU funds in Latvia, ensures supervision of their utilization, organises and ensures work of the EU Structural Funds and Cohesion Fund Steering Committee, work of unified project information system, coordinated communication about the EU funds and cooperation with the European Commission.
