Recovery and Resilience Facility support for human resources provision and health skills development has been made available

Ministry of Health

On January 9, the government examined an information report prepared by the Ministry of Health on the planned health measures of the European Union Recovery and Resilience Facility. Overall, it is planned to invest some EUR 4.2 million from European funds to strengthen the medical education system and implement a human resources strategy.

The aim is to strengthen the medical education system by introducing a sustainable model for further education and a coordination mechanism for quality assurance and monitoring of educational content, introduce a simulation approach at all levels of education, and develop a mechanism to predict the future needs of the health workforce.

The financing of the Recovery and Resilience Facility will be available by 2026 and most of it – EUR 3 630 000 (including the State budget funding for VAT - EUR 630 000) is intended to introduce a simulation approach in medical education for the education of medical practitioners and students by purchasing and installing medical simulators and their equipment. This approach allows the simulation of different real-life situations, thus enabling prospective and existing medical professionals to further develop their skills.

While 605 thousand euros (including state budget funding for VAT – 105 thousand euros) are intended to develop and implement the Human resources Strategy. The human resources strategy covers activities such as provision of basic medical studies and planning of the number of residence places according to demand, attraction measures, as well as improvement of the human resources database. It is planned to establish a system to strengthen the medical education system by introducing a sustainable model for further education and a coordination mechanism for ensuring and monitoring the quality of educational content, as well as a simulation approach at all levels of education. An IT tool will also be developed to predict the future needs of the health workforce.
