On October 24, 2023, the Cabinet of Ministers authorized the Ministry of the Interior to enter into a contract and undertake commitments for the construction of disaster management centers in Tukums, Talsi and Alūksne.

The construction of disaster management centers in Alūksne and Talsi will be financed by the Recovery Fund, while the construction of the disaster management center in Tukums will be financed by the state budget.

It should be recalled that already on May 16 this year the Cabinet of Ministers allowed the Ministry of the Interior (State Provision Agency) to enter into agreements with merchants regarding construction of disaster management centers in Liepāja, Daugavpils, Madona, Līvāni, Salacgrīva, Viļāni and Alsunga within the framework of the Recovery Fund. Contracts and design work have been concluded for the construction of the abovementioned disaster management centers.

The investment objective of the Recovery Fund Plan is to ensure efficient, rapid and qualitative work of the services involved in disaster management throughout the territory of Latvia by improving cooperation and co-ordination of the services involved in response and disaster management.

The investment will also result in improved working conditions of employees, including job security, which will have a positive impact on the level of satisfaction of employees and attraction of new employees.
