The Ministry of Finance Has Received Comments from the EC Regarding the EU Funds Partnership Agreement for the 2014-2020
On Thursday, 20 March, Latvia received the official comments from the European Commission (EC) regarding the Partnership Agreement of European Structural Funds and Investment Funds for 2014-2020 Programming Period submitted on 15 January this year. Thus, Latvia is still one of the first EU Member States which successfully prepares for beginning the new period.
“The comments received acknowledge our successful dialogue with the European Commission and at the same time also a successful progress towards the beginning of the new 2014-2020 programming period in Latvia. This is a significant step in further preparation of planning documents in order to send them for an approval. Besides, we still can confirm that we will take all possible actions to become one of the first countries which could start the activity of the new period,” points out Minister for Finance Andris Vilks.
Currently, the Ministry of Finance as the Managing Authority of the European Union (EU) funds is working out a subsequent time schedule for updating the Partnership Agreement. In cooperation with the responsible line ministries and the Cross-Sectoral Coordination Centre, the comments received will be evaluated accurately and will be included in the updated document of the Partnership Agreement.
On 4 March this year, Latvia has submitted to the EC also the action programme “Growth and Employment” for the next 2014-2020 programming period of the EU funds, and in the coming months there are official comments expected about this programme.
However, on 28 March this year, there will be the Temporary EU Funds Supervision Committee in Riga during which cooperation partners will be acquainted with the major comments by the EC regarding the Partnership Agreement as well as with a further process of the elaboration of planning documents. There will be also the issues related to the management and control system and to the fulfilment of ex-ante conditions discussed as well as it is planned to examine the presentations of line ministries about the new programming period’s activities that have to be started earlier. The delegated representatives of state administrative authorities, local governments, planning regions, social partners and of non-governmental organisations will participate in the meeting.
