Today we celebrate Europe Day! In the field of home affairs, we have also experienced significant growth over the years and received significant support from the European Union

Today, on May 9, 2024, Europe Day is widely celebrated across Europe and in Latvia.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Latvia's accession to the European Union. In the field of home affairs as well, we have experienced significant growth and received substantial support from the European Union over the years.

Together with our partners across Europe, we are able to develop the working methods of internal affairs services, adapt to new global challenges, and defend Latvia's democratic values. In Latvia, we stand together with Europe – we are part of it.

Even now, the European Union is investing in strengthening home affairs institutions:

• We are strengthening security with the Internal Security Fund!

• We are strengthening the surveillance, security and inviolability of external borders with the Instrument for Financial Support for Border Management and Visa Policy!

• We are strengthening asylum, migration and integration systems with the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund!

• We are strengthening the civil protection and fire safety system with the Recovery Fund and the European Regional Development Fund!

With the support of the European Union, we are working for the benefit of the Latvian people - developing the flexibility of internal affairs services to respond to any challenge.
