Ministry of the Interior

The State Provision Agency, in co-operation with the State Real Estate implements the project No. NVA/RPVP/2023/1 “Development of construction intention of the border infrastructure of the Republic of Latvia – the Republic of Belarus and performance of construction work - metal towers and access roads to towers (stage 1 of round 3)” within the Financial Support Instrument for Border Management and Visa Policy.

The purpose of the project is to develop the infrastructure necessary for guarding the external land border of the Republic of Latvia – the Republic of Belarus. With the help of the project, it is planned to construct six towers and access roads to them in order to ensure communication and border surveillance at the state border section along Daugava. The development of construction design documentation, author's supervision and construction works are carried out according to the combined “Design & Construct” principle.

The aim of the construction is to create a modern solution that is comfortable for the day-to-day work of the State Border Guard, helping to monitor the state border at a distance of nearly 20 kilometers. In fulfilling the given task, the locations of towers have been re-evaluated and a decision has been taken regarding the necessity of construction of six towers. Taking into account that the planned towers form part of the "smart" external land border monitoring system, the State Real Estate, in co-operation with the State Provision Agency and the State Radio and Television Centre of Latvia, has clarified the tower locations.

The total funding of the project is EUR 3 633 924, of which the EU funds financing is EUR 2 725 443. The project is expected to be implemented by 31 December 2024.
